CityKids

___________________________________________________________________________

“CityKids, our children’s ministry (ages birth to grade 5), exists to help children see Jesus and to come alongside parents to make Him known in the home. We accomplish this through offering a fun, interactive, and safe environment on Sundays for children to learn the Gospel in easily understandable ways; and by offering parents resources, coaching, and courses to bring the reality of Jesus into the daily lives of their kids.” - Rev. Brad Schmidt, Pastor

What is offered at CityKids on Sunday mornings?

There are three different ministries of CityKids that takes place each Sunday:

1) Worship Service for children of all ages |  10:30 – 11:00a

Before our 11:15a corporate worship service, children of all ages gather upstairs, 10:30a, at First Lutheran for a brief but interactive worship experience that includes music, a kids-offering, and a relevant message about Jesus.  Parents are encouraged to worship with their children during this time and to benefit from the various resources designed to assist parents in bringing the reality of Jesus to their home.  Older siblings (grades 6+) are welcome to join help assist!

2) Nursery, for children ages infant to 5 | During the Worship Service (11:15a)

The nursery provides a safe place for young children to play while their parents and older siblings are engaged in the service.

3) Children’s Church for children ages 5 – 12.

In Children’s Church, our staff teaches a lesson relevant to the sermon, and the children engage in a creative activity. For example, children recently created posters for a church food drive during their lesson on the mercy of God.

Will my child be safe?

Your child’s safety is of huge importance to us. Our CityKids staff is certified in emergency first aid, and all volunteers have undergone thorough background checks. Additionally, pagers are given to the parents of each child attending CityKids, so that they can be alerted if they’re needed for any reason.

Why is there no Children’s Church during the sermon on the last Sunday of every month?

In an effort to prepare our children for corporate worship, Children’s Church is not held on the last Sunday of the month. On these Sundays, we encourage families to worship together, activity bags and sermon aids are available for children at the registration desk before the service.
